Ricardo Gamboa is a writer, performer, and filmmaker with an extensive social practice. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2003 (B.A. Spanish) and then began his career in his native Chicago. There he was the Artistic Director of Teatro Americano, company member of Barrel of Monkeys, and worked with young people throughout the city using performance and media as a means for empowerment. In 2010 he moved to New York City where he has since participated in the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics EmergeNYC program, made socially conscious youth media at Scenarios USA, and became a NY Neo-Futurist. As an Arts Politics M.A. student, he is pursuing studies in aesthetics, pedagogy, and queer theory.
